Stephen Curry is focused on what the Warriors need to do to bounce back in the upcoming season after failing to defend their title. Despite the disappointment of last year, Curry is determined to lead his team back to championship contention in 2023-24. With changes to the roster and a more experienced squad, Curry believes the Warriors can recapture the winning culture that led them to a championship in 2022.
“I am disappointed that we didn’t reach our full potential last year. Every team needs to improve, so changes are necessary. I am happy with how our team is coming together, with various players able to contribute from different positions,” Curry mentioned on the most recent episode of Dubs Talk. “We have grown more mature through gaining experience, which is crucial for success in the NBA. I plan to continue playing at a high level for as long as possible. Draymond and Klay are also dedicated to their craft, and we have a strong team culture that we need to return to. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
The Warriors struggled to find the right balance of on-court chemistry and off-court trust last season, especially after Draymond Green’s incident with Jordan Poole and the introduction of several young players into the rotation. Poole and Wiseman have since moved on, making way for Chris Paul and Gary Payton II. With Kuminga and Moody a year older and expected to take on bigger roles, along with the addition of Saric and Joseph for stability, the Golden State team looks poised for a more successful season in 2023-24. injuries and absences tested Kerr’s bench depth last season, but the team is now better equipped to handle any challenges that come their way.
There’s no surefire way to know if the Warriors will improve next season. While their talent may not seem as strong on paper, the team’s unity and chemistry are crucial factors in achieving success at the highest level of the game. Golden State has been putting in the work to strengthen their bond this summer, giving them confidence for the upcoming season. We’ll have to wait until mid-October to see if their efforts pay off.
