Sibling Bonds and Empowerment: Lakers’ Tristan Thompson’s Endeavors to Secure Guardianship for Amari, His Beloved Brother

Following the unfortunate demise of their mother Andrea earlier this year, Tristan Thompson has taken on the responsibility of being Amari’s primary caregiver. Displaying immense dedication towards his sibling, Tristan has decided to officially become Amari’s legal guardian.

In a recent legal proceeding, Tristan Thompson, the NBA free agent and former partner of Khloé Kardashian, has expressed his desire to obtain sole legal guardianship of his 17-year-old sibling. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the 32-year-old athlete asserts that he is the sole capable relative to provide the necessary care for his brother Trevor since their father has been absent from their lives since 2014.

Thompson’s primary aim is to obtain legal guardianship of Amari, with the intention of providing round-the-clock care for him. Amari, who faces the daily challenges of epilepsy and other medical conditions, requires constant assistance for his well-being.
The official documents submitted to the court confirm that Amari, being a minor and due to his medical conditions, lacks the ability to independently care for himself or actively pursue employment opportunities.
As indicated in the filed papers, Amari has been residing at Tristan’s residence located in the beautiful Hidden Hills, California.

The statement suggests that it would be beneficial for Amari to have a guardian assigned to him in order to ensure that his basic needs are met. Additionally, Amari has recently received a small inheritance from his late mother, Mary, but a guardian would not have authority to manage or invest the money on his behalf.
According to official court documents, Amari has received $103,475 from his mother’s inheritance. It has been decided that Tristan, who is responsible for safeguarding the inheritance, will also take charge of coordinating Amari’s care and medical appointments. Tristan plans to make a legal request for Amari to obtain U.S. citizenship, even though Amari was born in Canada.
Sadly, Amari’s mother, Andrea, passed away on January 5th after suffering a heart attack at her residence in Toronto. The news about her passing was initially reported by TMZ Sports. Tristan traveled to Toronto to be with Khloé, who is close to Andrea, as well as the rest of his family.

The co-founder of Good American, a 39-year-old woman named Khloé Kardashian, discussed her decision to bring in her ex-boyfriend Tristan and his brother Amari on the final episode of The Kardashians in July. Tristan’s house had collapsed due to severe weather, so Kardashian, who has a 14-month-old son named Tatum and a 5-year-old daughter named True with him, decided to provide them with shelter.

During a conversation with her sister Kim and their mother Kris, the 42-year-old founder of SKIMS, Kardashian jokingly remarked, “Isn’t it ironic? Why is it that Tristan and his brother had to move in with you just as you were about to have your year of freedom? It’s like God has a sense of humor.”

Kardashian shared her belief that “God does have a plan” and that he doesn’t want Tristan to be alone at this time. She emphasized that there is a reason behind their living arrangement and that they shouldn’t question it.

She also revealed that her one-year-old son Tatum, who celebrated his birthday on July 28, has formed a close bond with Amari. Kardashian expressed that Tatum and Amari genuinely like each other.

Despite living together and Kardashian’s unwavering support, she clarified that she and Tristan are not back together romantically.
