Parker Schnabel didn’t get to where he is by being a nice guy. The Gold Rush star does what is best for his business and his finances, and he isn’t going to hand out favors to anyone. This includes the son of one of Parker’s longest friends and partners, Tony Beets.
Here is what happened when Kevin Beets asked Parker Schnabel for help.
Parker Schnabel Has No ‘Friend’ Deals On Gold Rush
Kevin Beets started his mining operation, leaving the shadow of his successful father, Tony Beets. However, after unexpected setbacks, Kevin turned to his longtime friend, Parker Schnabel. However, Parker turned Kevin’s struggles to his advantage.
Kevin started his mining venture with a A-40 truck over two decades old. As expected, it ended up causing problems, and it was stuck right in the middle of his gold operation. He needed something to help him finish the work, but a new fully-operated truck runs $300,000.
Kevin turned to Parker, let him know he had $100,000 to spend, and asked for help. However, he might not have expected that Parker would simply offer him another truck that was also two decades old. Parker also wanted $110,000 for it, which was more than Kevin’s budget.
Kevin tried to get the price down to $105,000, but Parker said he doesn’t “haggle.” Regarding money, Parker won’t even cut friends a break, even on a very old truck. Parker played hardball with Kevin and wouldn’t give in, finally getting the $110,000 for the truck.
Kevin Beets Getting His Feet Under Him On Gold Rush
Parker Schnabel at least showed kindness after the deal with Kevin Beets. While he wouldn’t take a penny less than $110,000, he gave Kevin extra time to pay him for it.
Kevin asked if he could defer payment, and Parker instantly said he was fine with the deal. Parker did say there was one catch. He would take the payment no matter what happened. Kevin assured Parker he would pay him back before the season’s end. Now, pressure is high as Kevin has only a few weeks left to find the gold and pay the bills without missing the deadline.
Kevin’s crew planned to reach 1,000 ounces by the end of the season. He wanted to strip three acres at the Links Cut, but the truck malfunction delayed the work. Kevin only has limited time before he has to pay back this debt to Parker Schnabel.
