The Bachelorette’s Michelle Young is engaged to Jack Leius less than a year after making their debut as a couple at Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s wedding ceremony in January.
Michelle Young’s romance has the rosiest update.
The Bachelorette alum—who helmed the series’ 18th season—is engaged to Jack Leius after more than a year of dating.
The couple—who debuted their romance in January at Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s televised wedding ceremony—got engaged in Edina, Minnesota, under the guise of Michelle starring in a commercial for, she told People, one of her “favorite brands.”
“I was really excited when I found out I had the opportunity,” Michelle added to the outlet of the pseudo-situation in an article published Dec. 3. “I completely froze when I saw Jack standing in the middle of this beautiful flower arch of white roses.”
But the 31-year-old—who split from Nayte Olukoya in 2022—admitted that Jack, 27, had planned a surprise so elaborate that it took her a few minutes to catch on to what was happening.
“I was fooled so badly,” she detailed, “for a moment I thought the joke was that Jack was one of the male models that I would be working with at the shoot.”
And while Michelle is not one to fall for surprises easily, she was completely duped by her now-fiancé.
“I’ve always had a very strong intuition and could see surprises from miles away, even since I was little,” she noted. “I hadn’t even slightly sensed this was happening.”
As for how the Michelle Young Foundation founder took the surprise once she realized what was happening?
“I tried to say yes several times but was in shock that no words really came out,” she gushed of the moment when Jack popped out the 3.56 emerald-cut diamond ring. “There were a lot of happy tears and of course I said YES!”
After their romantic moment, the couple—who were introduced by a mutual friend—celebrated with family and friends at a party that Jack also coordinated right under Michelle’s nose.
“There were so many moments we crossed that we thought she might catch on,” he said. “Her management team and I are pretty proud about pulling off the big surprise, and we all have a lot of funny stories about how many details it took to make this entire day believable.”
As Michelle put it, “They really did get me good.”
