For Joey Graziadei, there’s only one person he has in mind to choreograph his and fiancée Kelsey Anderson’s first dance as a married couple: Jenna Johnson.
“She already has that title,” Graziadei, 29, exclusively told Us Weekly after the Dancing With the Stars season 33 semifinals on Tuesday, November 19, referring to Johnson, 30, as his official wedding choreographer. Johnson went on to joke, “I hope it doesn’t take a mirrorball [trophy] to win that title.”
Graziadei assured Johnson that it “does not take a mirrorball to have that title” before poking fun at his DWTS partner. “She has that title for everything she’s done, but, you know, a little mirrorball [trophy] — I say that you have to do it to be able to, you know? Maybe a little motivation,” he joked. “No, she’s already got that title.”
Fans watched Graziadei and Anderson, 26, fall in love and get engaged on season 29 of The Bachelor earlier this year. In addition to announcing their plans to settle in Los Angeles earlier this month, the couple also celebrated their first anniversary.
“The laughs, the love, the support, the joy and the excitement,” Graziadei wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post on November 12. “Every day with you is an adventure and I cannot wait to see all of the memories we get to create in the years to come.”
In an Instagram tribute of her own, Anderson praised her fiancé for being “a man who is patient, kind, and always gives 1000% in everything he does,” adding, “I’m so grateful for your love, your support, and the way you make every day brighter.”
Despite the obvious love between them, the pair have put any wedding plans on hold as Graziadei continues to compete on DWTS. “I think really right now our goal is to get through this dancing. Get settled where we’re gonna be living next,” he exclusively told Us last month. “And then it’s gonna be to figure out a date, figure out location, get everything kind of cleaned up a little bit.”
In September, Graziadei told the “Almost Famous” podcast that he asked to be paired with a pro dancer “in a successful and healthy relationship.” Johnson has been married to fellow DWTS pro Val Chmerkovskiy since 2019, and the two share a 22-month-old son, Rome.
Throughout Graziadei’s DWTS journey, Anderson has clapped back at online trolls who have criticized and questioned their romance. “He’s always like, ‘Just don’t even let it bother you,’” she exclusively told Us last month. “But then sometimes I’m like, ‘You know what, I need extra support.’ I’ll call his sister Carly and then I’ll talk to her and then she’s like, ‘Yeah, make the video.’”
Despite some online drama, Graziadei is keeping his eye on the prize as he and Johnson prepare for next week’s DWTS season finale. “It’s just going to be a long week. There are longer dances, but I really want our mantra to be joy,” he told Us after Tuesday night’s episode. “I just want this to be a joyful experience because it’s over so fast and we’ll never get this moment back in time. So, I really want it to be a positive week for us. Although there’s a lot to accomplish, I just want it to be a moment we will never forget.”
Dancing With the Stars airs simultaneously on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET and streams on Disney+ the next day.
